Underground Cable Locates

Chippewa Valley Electric Cooperative is a member of Digger's Hotline. If you need the underground electric lines located, please contact Digger's Hotline at 811. According to Wisconsin State Law, you must allow three working days before you dig. There are no charges from Chippewa Valley Electric Cooperative to locate the lines. Please remember that our responsibility ends at the meter. Chippewa Valley does not locate underground lines buried from the meter to your building(s). If the cable you need located is your own, please contact your electrician. You will be notified by mail if CVEC does not have any underground lines to locate.

Wisconsin Law on Locating

The marking of facilities shall be completed within three working days after receipt of the notice, or if notice is given more than ten days before excavation is scheduled to begin, marking shall be completed at least three working days before excavation is scheduled to begin.
