Water Heater Information

Time for a new water heater?
        Look no further than your electric cooperative.
Water heating is one of the most costly energy requirements in your home. Chippewa Valley sells electric water heaters to our members at a special low cost. (Heater must be under Load Management Control)

AVAILABLE WATER HEATERS

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
       Member signs necessary contracts authorizing water heater to be controlled
       Member elects to either purchase outright or make interest free monthly payments
       With either payment option sales tax is paid when the heater is picked up
       With either payment option Water Heater must be controlled for sixty months
       With the monthly payment option - the electric account is billed $10/month until heater is paid off
       Member responsible for heater installation
       Load management control installed by CVEC on outside of building
       Load management control must be installed within two weeks of heater purchase
       Member receives $3/month credit for the heater being controlled (account has to use at least 500kwh/month to qualify for credit)

WATER HEATER INCENTIVE CRITERIA
       New Services (Homes that are not a spec house, apartment or cottage) qualify for any of the half price options
       Full time residential homes qualify for any of replacement size and price depending on situation
       New seasonal accounts, apartments, or spec houses qualify for 50 gallon heater
       Seasonal accounts, apartments, or spec houses when replacing gas or fuel oil water heater qualify for 50 gallon heater
       A spec house, seasonal or apartment can upgrade to the 80 gallon for $420.00 or the 85 gallon for $470.00
       Water Heaters for spec houses or apartments must be paid for when picked up - no monthly payment option
       Replaced Gas/Oil heaters must be brought to the office within five working days
       Free elements and thermostats are available with exchange of defective parts

WATER HEATER CONTROL QUALIFICATION
       The water heater must be 50 gallons or larger
       Control times vary, but normally are in evenings on very hot or cold days
       Maximum control period for 50 & 80 gallon heaters is 4 hours in a 10 hour period except in emergencies
       Maximum control period for 85 gallon heaters is 6 hours in a 10 hour period except in emergencies

Sale of Water Heater (all water heater sales charged out of WH2)
Sale of Water Heater - set the sale up on CPS Accounts Receivable as a charge. Debit Other Rec-Water Heaters (1430301) to the member's membership number-credit Merchandising Revenue (4150000) and Sales tax (2360500). The member pays the sales tax at the time of sale - post through CPS to the Other Rec.-Water Heaters account (1430301), then transfer other receivables to the loan account.
