Youth Congress
Every year the Rural Electric Cooperatives of Wisconsin and the UW-River Falls
College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences sponsor students to the
Youth Leadership Congress, which is held on the UW-River Falls campus for three
days in July. This event is coordinated by the WECA
(electric) Division of the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives and designed by
and for teenagers.
While at YLC, students are active in workshops and seminar sessions. They also hold
current events debates, form a real working cooperative, and elect a seven-member
board of directors for the next year.
The purpose of the program is to provide a forum to teenagers to discuss the issues
that are important to them, learn about electric cooperatives, and sample life on a
college campus.
The congress is usually held in July, check the calendar above for the actual dates.
An application and tentative schedule is available here,
(check date on application), a new application will available when current year event is set.
