Slab Heat
Slab heat is similar to an ETS unit. Heat is stored in the building slab during off-peak times and released into the building during the control periods. Slab heat can be either electric heating wires or hot water pipes put beneath a concrete slab. Either system has been found to work well.
The entire floor is heated to a reasonable temperature and the large thermal mass of the concrete and the soil beneath stores the heat. This allows for the electric to be controlled for periods of time with no ill effects on the building heat.
Call your Cooperative personnel to answer your questions on Slab Heat. 715-239-6800 / 800-300-6800.
