2009 Margins Allocated

 The Board authorized the allocation of the 2009 operating margins of $523,246.74 to the members. Our margins are allocated as capital credits to members. The allocation of capital credits is one of the ways a Cooperative differentiates itself from the for profit businesses. In the for profit world the margins are given back to the stockholders, not necessarily the people patronizing the business. Total margins for Chippewa Valley Electric for 2009 were $612,032.35, the remaining $88,785.61 is non-operating margins such as interest and dividends. The Board has elected to retain those margins to offset needs for additional borrowing.

The allocated Capital Credits are held by the Cooperative for a number of years to provide the working capital needed to run the business. Currently Chippewa Valley is retiring the Capital Credits on approximately a twenty-one year cycle.

For those that are currently receiving a bill, the allocation notice will be part of your June bill. For inactive members, the allocation notice is a separate mailing. Member Appreciation Picnic Held July 2nd

The 22nd Member Appreciation picnic was held Friday July 2nd. Attendance was great again this year. We estimate that nearly 1,000 members and guests attended the event. We, employees and Board of Chippewa Valley want to thank all the members that attended and hope those that were not able to attend this year will be able to make future picnics. The picnic is one of the ways we thank you for your support and patronage.
